Тезисы: Global waste volumes continue to rise, exceeding 2.5 billion tons annually, while effective recycling remains below 15%. In this interview, Sergey Likharev, Founder and CEO of Waste-To-En, explains why traditional recycling systems fail at scale and how modern advanced recycling technologies address this gap. The discussion focuses on thermo-chemical methods, particularly gasification, which destroys the chemical structure of waste rather than mechanically recycling it. Viewers will learn how an energy-efficient, modular gasification unit converts carbon-containing waste into synthesis gas and electricity without external energy sources and why it is better than traditional waste incineration. The interview also examines economic viability and carbon footprint reduction.
Краткая биография: After completing my Ph.D. in Physics in 1991 and an MBA in 2000, Sergey Likharev spent 25 years in C-suite positions in manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain management, including a decade as the Vice President and a Member of the Management Board for one of the world’s largest steel manufacturing companies. Over time, however, Sergey became increasingly concerned about the significant environmental harm caused by human-generated waste. In 2023, he decided to leave my corporate role to fully focus on my startup, which is developing gasification technology to convert waste into synthesis gas and further into electricity or other valuable products. Beyond my startup, Sergey Likharev is sharing his significant business expertise by serving as a member of the Board of Directors for a well-regarded seaport company, mentoring emerging managers, and lecturing executives and business school students.
